Prayaan Capital Private Limited was incorporated on December 10th 2018, and was granted the NBFC Certificate of Registration on 6th June 2019 for conducting business as a non-deposit taking NBFC with their Registered and Corporate Office in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
The word Prayaan meaning Journey was conceptualised by the founders intending to service the complete business needs of its customers and thereby co-travelling with them on their entrepreneurial “Journey”.The Company is engaged in the business of extending credit to micro and small enterprises, typically the self-employed businesses.
The Company has now transitioned into a high potential institution with Mr. Rangarajan Krishnan taking up the leadership role as the Promoter and Managing Director of the Company, with the existing founders, Madhan Mohan and Akash Chelvam continuing to work as part of the core team. Mr.Rangarajan brings with him a rich experience of leading NBFCs and other Financial Institutions to scale and profitability. This transition brings with it both infusion of capital and fresh expertise that will see the Company through to new heights.

Rangarajan Krishnan
Managing DirectorRangarajan Krishnan is a finance professional with over 20 years of experience spanning reputed large corporates such as Five Star Business Finance, Standard Chartered Bank, HDFC Bank, International Finance Corporation and Spark Capital. His last assignment was in Five Star Business Finance as their joint Managing Director and CEO. His expertise spans across core operations of the non-bank financial institution including business, collections, technology, operations, credit and legal. Over his years of experience, he has managed portfolios across Corporate Banking, mid-market segment, South East Asia Infrastructure Financing and as an Investment Banker for a variety of deals across fund raising, mergers & acquisitions.
Jayalakshmi Rangarajan
DirectorJayalakshmi Rangarajan is a Technology professional with a wide range of experience across software development and consultancy. She brings in key insights into various technology models to enhance productivity and build robust systems. Her experience spans across various companies including Wipro Technologies and Ahaguru Education Technology where she has been instrumental in delivering a variety of global software development projects successfully.
G. Madhan Mohan
Chief Credit OfficerMadhan Mohan has over 21 years of extensive work in the MSME markets, having ably managed various roles in Credit Policy, Credit Under-Writing, Collections, Fraud Control, Operations, Sales, P&L, Strategy and invitee member on boards. His true passion lies in lending to improve the lives of individuals and businesses by providing the financial support required at the right time. He has been part of the set up, and built the MSME vertical for RBL Bank. He created the success at Swadhaar Finserve Pvt.Ltd. having driven both business and extensive expansion to build the company as a bench mark model of dedicated Business Correspondent. He has always been at the heart of the Indian MSME market with NBFCs and Banks like Fullerton India Credit Company Ltd., Sahayata Microfinance Pvt. Ltd., Vistaar Financial Services Pvt. Ltd., and successfully transformed businesses to meet new market demand & sustain a profitable trajectory.
Akash S. Chelvam
Chief Human Resources OfficerAkash Chelvam has an extensive experience of over 15 years in the Banking and Insurance space with a domain expertise in Human Resources and Learning & Development. He has been part of the core teams to setup new geographies and business lines. In his last assignment with RBL Bank he was initially responsible for the Talent Acquisition & Business Partnering for the Agri & Inclusive Banking, taking care of Pan India hiring strategy and execution, also setup Small Business Banking vertical. He has also worked in the Organization Development team, primarily heading the Future Leadership Hiring initiatives for the Bank, along with various other projects spanning Pan India, post which he was seconded to RBL Finserve (erstwhile SwadhaarFinserve) as Head – Human Resources to grow the organization and to develop a robust structure in terms of governance. Having a comprehensive and strategic understanding of Human Resources, business requirements and organizational change he devised and implement coherent HR strategies along with improving internal process & procedures within a demanding environment. For Prayaan, Akash is leading Human Resources, Learning & Development, Administration, Operations, Tele calling and IT Infrastructure.
